I think what bothers me about this video is how it’s just another calculated move to make Lana LOOK exotic. Like, I feel like she’d never actually let a black man near her fairy vagina, but because she held a half black kid in a music video, we’re supposed to believe she’s hip and cool and down with the brown. Also, it’s “exotic and artsy” to do this in a music video, but society is still a long ways off from letting this happen in real life. Also also, could we have gotten away with this? Would any record label exec allow Gucci Mane to make a video where he was the president and, idk, Carly Rae Jepsen was his wife?

On a similar-ish note, I gave her some massive side-eye when I heard the name and lyrics to a song she passed on to another artist, entitled “Ghetto Baby”. That and the origins of her stage name let me know that she is definitely on some of that Madonna-esque “association with black and brown bodies and cultures makes me hip and interesting” shit.
